Desert Breath (1997) is a Land Art project covering in an area of 100.000 m2, in the eastern Sahara desert.
It consists of sand-made conical volumes, both positive and negative, forming two interlocking spirals that move out from a common centre. The form of the spirals, as well as the size of the cones and the distances between them, are determined by parametric mathematical rules posed by the artists. The project is presented in Danae’s website http://danaestratou.com/
projects/exterior/desert- breath, while you can also see it in Google Earth (coordinates: 27°22’54.59″N, 33°37’48.46″E)
We have developed a software solution allowing the artists to easily manipulate the parameters, while testing the results. We have also created the abstract CG visualization of the selected solution.
